search engine optimization for wahms

Today on the #wahmwednesday Twitter chat we welcome Anita Cohen-Williams of MySearchGuru.com. Anita will be chatting with us today about her specialty, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Social Media Optimization (SMO). In addition to her work on Twitter and with her company, Anita was most recently a panelist for Revenue Bootcamp last week in Mountain View, California – perhaps it is not a coincidence that Mountain View is Google’s neighborhood!

The “official” #wahmwednesday chat lasts approximately on hour. The format for today’s chat will allow Anita to discuss the questions listed below from 9 a.m. Pacific time for about the first half hour, and then we will open the chat to allow all the Work At Home Mom participants (that is you, gorgeous WAHM!) to promote your businesses for the second half hour. The questions we’ll be asking Anita include:

  • Please tell us a bit about your background and how it relates to our topic today?
  • What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO)?
  • What is Social Media Optimization (SEM)?
  • Why are these important?
  • What’s the difference between SEO and SEM?
  • What tips can you give our readers about SEO and SEM?
  • What’s your contact information if people want to reach you?

After Anita presents her topic, we’ll open it up to everyone to promote their work at home mom (WAHM) business and website. Make sure to use #wahmwednesday in your tweet so we can find your information. Then, after the planned discussion is over, we invite you to promote your business with a link followed by #wahmwednesday all day long.

How to Follow #wahmwednesday

The easiest way to follow along is to use TweetGrid. <-- That link is preloaded with the #wahmwednesday hashtag and the event hosts, @wahmwednesday and @searchguru. There is a column for you to enter your username (optional) if you want to see your tweets or if other people have mentioned you in their tweets. There is also a place to put your username and password if you want to tweet right from TweetGrid.com (owned by a third party, we do not accept responsibility for use of that site, but they promised not to store your password). See you there!

First #wahmwednesday A Great Start

Thank you to everyone on Twitter who participated in our first #wahmwednesday discussion. I’d especially like to thank Stacey Ross, @sdbargainmama, for being our first guest. In true WAHM fashion she had her children at home and we thank her husband for watching the kids.

If you are on Twitter, please consider following the people who made our first #wahmwednesday a great success:

Hope to see you back next week on Wednesday 9 am Pacific for our next discussion and the opportunity to promote your Work At Home Mom business all day with the #wahmwednesday hashtag on Twitter. See you then!

Today we’ll be talking to Stacey Ross (@sdbargainmama) from SanDiegoBargainMama.com. Thank you, Stacey, for being our guinea pig on our first #wahmwednesday Twitter chat. The moderator is Holly Kolman (@WAHMWednesday).

Here’s the format: From 9 am to 10 am Pacific Time, there will be a discussion with our guest and the participants based on the questions listed below. We’d love to see you there, but if you can’t make it you can still participate by tagging your posts with the #wahmwednesday hashtag. Any time you write about your home business, simply mark the end of the tweet with #wahmwednesday.

Here are the questions for this week’s discussion:

  1. Please describe your business.
  2. Who does your business serve (customers / readers)
  3. When do you do the actual work?
  4. How do you find a balance between working your business and being fully present with your children?
  5. What’s your best success tip for your work at home mom WAHM business?

We hope you get some benefit from the first day devoted to Work at Home Moms and Mom Bloggers. We expect this to be a weekly event, and are very excited to have a chance to promote other work at home mothers across the globe via Twitter. Please let us know if you have any suggestions for future chats. Have fun!

Configuring Our New Elegant Theme

If’ you are seeing the site in its unfinished state, it’s because the theme we were using before wasn’t working properly. So, we are switching to a theme from Elegant Themes. It’s a pretty good deal, $19.95 for unlimited use of all of their themes for a year. That’s an affiliate link, so if you want to get one and support WahmWednesday, please click our link. Thanks!

Welcome to WAHM Wednesday!

Welcome to WAHM Wednesday! WAHM is an acronym for Work At Hom Mom, and that’s what we do. Building and growing a business is challenging enough, but add children to the mix and it’s a whole new ballgame.

Now there’s a whole day every week for work at home moms to promote your business and have some fun with your new girlfriends. You deserve it, mom!
